LIPA receives solar funding

Governor Paterson announced approval of $15 million in federal funds to be used by LIPA to further its solar programs, Tuesday, November 23. A total of $8.3 million will go towards LIPA’s solar-panel rebate program while the other $6.7 million will fund the Eastern Long Island Solar Energy Project which aims to build solar carports over seven county parking lots across Suffolk. Solar Farm in Brookhaven

A carbon-free, solar farm of more that 167,000 solar panels spanning 200 acres at Brookhaven National Laboratory was introduced to the public today.

The project is considered the largest of its kind on the Northeast and would bring solar energy on Long Island from mainly a residential energy option to an industrial option. Huge. Check out the full article as reported in Newsday:Solar Farm
