Rick Wertheim, the senior vice president of Housing and Green Building Initiatives at the United Way of Long Island received the 2010 Green Building Initiative Award at a ceremony in Washington D.C.
Mr. Wertheim was presented the award by United Way President and CEO Theresa A. Regante for YouthBuild Long Island’s outstanding work in weatherization, advanced green building practices and emphasis on training and placing students in green industry jobs through the organization’s E3 Career Training Center.
This award is presented to only one of 273 YouthBuild programs across the county.
YouthBuild Long Island is a free youth and community-development program, and alternative school, that simultaneously addresses core issues facing low-income communities: housing, education, employment, crime prevention, and leadership development.
